WiFi installer for Gloucestershire houses that fight the signal

Whole-home WiFi, business and guest networks, mesh systems, outdoor coverage, rural links and data cabling. Designed for stone, terraces, farms and shops — not a plug-in booster.

Cotswold stone cottage in Gloucestershire with a discreet outdoor WiFi access point under the eaves
Outdoor access points go on the building. The router stays indoors.

Fast beside the hub. Useless in the bedroom.

That is a WiFi layout problem, and it is most of the work we do. Gloucestershire houses put broadband in a cupboard at one end and ask it to cross stone, foil-backed plasterboard or three floors. Boosters repeat the weak bit. We cable access points to the rooms you use, then test them.

Dead zones and upgrades

WiFi installation in Gloucestershire

Every part of the job, from survey to garden

How an install runs

  1. 01

    Call or write

Town, property type, and which rooms actually fail. Photos of the router cupboard help.

  2. 02

    Look at the building

We check the feed first, then the walls, floors, annexes and the cupboard the hub was left in.

  3. 03

    Fit the design

Cable where the building needs it. Mesh only where the walls will allow it. Guest network if you asked.

  4. 04

    Walk the rooms

We test the old dead zones before we leave, and the 5-year guarantee is written on the quote.

A starting point, not a quote

What sort of WiFi does the building want?

Four questions. You get a straight recommendation, then a proper survey if you want the work done.

Cabled access points, not another booster

This building will waste a wireless mesh hop. Plan a cable to an access point on each floor that people use, and a separate outdoor-rated run if a barn, garden room or second cottage is in the picture.

  • Check speed beside the router first, so a slow line is not dressed up as WiFi
  • One network name, with old extenders removed
  • Access points only in the rooms that fail
  • Loft routes agreed before any drilling

    Cheltenham

Cheltenham’s tall houses are three floors of elegant problem: high ceilings, thick party walls, and a router living in the basement.

Stroud’s hills, mills and stone terraces are awkward radio buildings. The signal does not climb the house just because the valley has fibre.

Straight answers

How much does WiFi installation cost in Gloucestershire?

It depends on the building, not a flat package. A small plasterboard house with the router in the right room is a different job from a three-storey Cotswold cottage or a shop with a guest network. AKM Aerials gives a free estimate before any work starts, and the quote lists the access points, cabling and what the 5-year guarantee covers. Call 07825 913917 and describe the property.

Do you cover the whole of Gloucestershire?

Yes. We are based at 7 Sherwood Road, Tetbury, GL8 8BU, and install WiFi across the county: Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud, Cirencester, Tewkesbury, the Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean, plus the villages between them. If you are on the county edge, call and we will say honestly whether we can take the job.

Mesh WiFi or cabled access points — which is right?

A shop-bought mesh kit can be enough in a compact modern house with light walls, if the pods can talk to each other. In stone, thick plaster, barn conversions and anything with an annexe, wireless hops usually disappoint. We prefer access points with a cable back to the router wherever a route exists. The survey decides it — we will not sell you a mesh system that the walls will defeat.

Can you get WiFi through Cotswold stone?

Not reliably, and not by adding another booster. Stone, flint and lime plaster stop 5 GHz quickly, and 2.4 GHz only crawls. The fix is a designed layout: cable to an access point on each floor, and a separate run for a garden room, office or annexe. We do this every week in cottages around Tetbury, Cirencester, Stow, Painswick and the rest of the Cotswolds.

Will you use my existing broadband provider?

Yes. We design the WiFi around the connection you already pay for, whether that is Openreach fibre, Virgin Media, a local alt-net or satellite broadband such as Starlink. If a speed test next to the router is already slow, that is a line problem and we will say so before you spend money on more access points.

Do you install UniFi, Omada, DrayTek, Eero or Deco?

We fit the system that suits the building. That is often UniFi or Omada where we want cabled ceiling access points, DrayTek where a business needs tighter control, and Eero or Deco where a simpler mesh with wired backhaul is the right call. We are independent of those manufacturers.

Guides before you buy another pod

  • Why WiFi fails in Cotswold stone houses

The broadband is not the villain. Two feet of limestone, a chimney and a router in the wrong cupboard are doing the damage.

  • Mesh WiFi or wired access points?

Both can be the right answer. The building decides, not the advert on the box.

  • WiFi for holiday lets and B&Bs

Guests judge the cottage by the WiFi before they judge the view. They will not repair a mesh system you bought in a hurry.

  • WiFi for a home office that stays on the call

Working from the spare room only works if the call survives. Most Gloucestershire home offices are the room furthest from the router.
